It's official: Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked showcase is scheduled for January 22nd, which means we won't have much longer to wait until the curtain is lifted on what could be the most exciting (and game-changing) consumer technology of 2025.
But what exactly do we expect to see unveiled in San Jose this year? Of course, Samsung itself hasn't confirmed anything yet, but countless leaks and rumors have us excited about the possible unveiling of new Galaxy phones, software features, and maybe even an all-new premium mixed reality headset.
Below we've rounded up five of the biggest announcements you can expect at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
At this point, there have been more leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra than the Titanic, and we're pretty sure that this putative successor to the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the spearhead of Samsung's next flagship smartphone lineup.
As for the upgrades the Galaxy S25 Ultra could bring, we hear of a more rounded design (similar to the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and iPhone 16 Pro Max), a 6.9-inch display, and a new 50MP Ultra Includes -wide camera, 25W wireless charging and a new 16GB RAM capacity (at least in the 512GB model).
These upgrades will almost certainly be powered by the brand new (and powerful) Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which has already made a name for itself in the OnePlus 13 and the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. Philip Berne, US mobile editor at TechRadar, after putting Qualcomm's latest mobile chip through a series of benchmark tests, said that the Snapdragon 8 Elite “will change everything about smartphones”, making the Galaxy S25 Ultra a very powerful phone indeed seems to be (expect). it will dominate the best Android phone calls in 2025).
Samsung Galaxy S25
The Galaxy S25 Ultra won't be the only new smartphone this month. The new flagship model will almost certainly be joined by two base devices, which are expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Both the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset like their expected Ultra sibling (there's a slight chance Samsung could use the Exynos 2500 in certain regions) and have more well-rounded designs than their respective predecessors have. Other rumored upgrades include 12GB of RAM across all storage configurations and support for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging.
Interestingly, we've heard talk of a Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim possibly debuting at Galaxy Unpacked this year, but tipsters are divided on this model's estimated ETA. If we do indeed see a slimmer version of Samsung's new base model announced in January, deliveries probably won't begin until later in the year, but it's still exciting to think that a smartphone-related surprise could be on the cards in San Jose .
Galaxy AI
Samsung is putting a lot of emphasis on AI-related marketing for its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked show, suggesting that major Galaxy AI upgrades are on the agenda. The text accompanying the company's event announcement states: “Get ready for an AI that is more natural and intuitive.” The next evolution of Galaxy AI is just around the corner and will transform the way you interact with the world every day interact. The new Galaxy S series is poised to once again set the bar for mobile AI experiences now and in the future.”
In other words, some big new software features are likely to be introduced alongside the phones mentioned above. Among them will almost certainly be a major upgrade to Samsung's Bixby voice assistant, and prominent leaker @UniverseIce claims that Samsung will “tell Apple what leading AI is” at Galaxy Unpacked and that “lots of new AI features from…” [the] S25s have not been leaked yet.” Apple Intelligence, anyone?
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2
The Samsung Galaxy Ring was teased at last year's Unpacked event in January and only went on sale in July, but reports suggest Samsung could pull off the same trick with the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 at this year's Unpacked event in January.
Of course, we don't expect to hear (or see) much about this potential successor to the best smart ring on the San Jose market. However, Samsung will reportedly give us an “introduction” to the Galaxy Ring 2 at Unpacked. According to rumors, the new device will have more precise sensors, improved AI and better battery life.
Project Moohan
Project Moohan, Samsung's mixed reality headset and “the first platform designed entirely for the Gemini era,” was technically announced in December last year, but there's a chance Samsung could give Unpacked entrants the option , to try out the Android XR-based product (or a version thereof) for yourself locally in San Jose.
Project Moohan is still just a developer kit, but Google and Samsung have confirmed that “the first products based on this platform will launch in 2025,” so a near-finished wearable device is certainly coming soon door will stand. We hope, anyway.
