- The Nothing Phone 3 could be a significant step forward over current models
- A leaked memo talks about a “flagship” device
- Expect numerous innovative AI features on board
We've got a bit more information about the upcoming Nothing Phone 3 via a leaked memo – and it looks like the delayed handset could be the most powerful and flagship-like Nothing phone yet, and packed with AI features.
The leak comes from veteran tipster @evleaks (via Android Central) and is apparently an internal memo sent to Nothing by its CEO Carl Pei. The note talks about “even better products and greater innovation” throughout 2025.
Below, the Nothing Phone 3 is described as a “flagship” and “landmark” smartphone – which certainly sounds like an evolution of the company's existing models. As you'll learn in our Nothing Phone 2 review, previous phones have focused on value for money rather than top-notch specs or performance.
The memo also mentions a revamped user interface that leans heavily on AI, which is expected in 2025. Pei has previously spoken about wanting to use AI the right way, in a user interface that is both helpful and pleasant to use.
The story so far
Apparently someone forwarded this @Nothing email to @evleaks. 👀The Nothing Phone (3) is said to be launching with “groundbreaking user interface innovations” and will make heavy use of AI. The latest phones we've seen from Nothing are the Nothing Phone 2a and the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, both of which launched in March 2024 – and then there was a glow-in-the-dark variant of the latter phone, which came out in October came onto the market.
As for a true successor to the Nothing Phone 2, which launched back in July 2023, we heard from Pei last year that the phone would be delayed until 2025 while the company worked on next-generation AI-powered software.
The goal, he said, is to use AI to help redefine the way we interact with our devices, something we've also seen with Rabbit and others. There are rumors that the AI on board the Nothing Phone 3 will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset, and a number of other specifications have also been leaked.
According to a tipster, it's possible we'll see several new Nothing phones by mid-year, including a Nothing Phone 3 Pro, which could be the premium flagship phone discussed in this latest leak.
