The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has been widely tipped and rumored at this point, so we have a good idea of what the key features of these phones will be, set to launch on January 22nd.
By “features” we mean the most important upgrades and new features compared to the Samsung Galaxy S24 series – in other words, the most important things that might make you consider buying a Samsung Galaxy S25 instead of a Galaxy S24.
Below you will find all claimed features and upgrades. Note that we're looking at the entire Samsung Galaxy S25 range here – so the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, as well as the base model.
MagSafe-like charging
An interesting addition that only became known relatively recently is the possible presence of a MagSafe-like system in the Samsung Galaxy S25 range, although exactly how it will work is uncertain.
According to one rumor, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series would all support Qi2 wireless charging, a technology very similar to MagSafe, with magnets in the phone that allow you to magnetically attach wireless chargers and accessories such as batteries and tripods.
However, another suggested that Samsung could simply sell some magnetic cases instead, which you could then attach magnetic accessories to. In fact, we've seen some Galaxy S25 cases that look like they're magnetic.
We're inclined to say that both of these rumors are probably true – that the phones will support Qi2 charging, but also that Samsung may launch a range of magnetic cases, perhaps so you can still firmly attach magnetic accessories when The phone has a case.
A new ultra-wide camera
Multiple sources have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could feature a new ultra-wide camera, with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's fairly modest 12MP ultra-wide sensor replaced by a more pixel-dense 50MP sensor .
This should allow for more detailed photos and hopefully lead to an overall increase in quality, making ultra-wide shots more consistent with photos taken with the main camera.
However, this upgrade reportedly only applies to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, while the other models will likely stick with the same cameras as their predecessors.

A super powerful chipset
Perhaps the most noticeable upgrade in everyday life could be a new chipset, with each Samsung Galaxy S25 model certainly having a faster chipset than its predecessors.
There has been some debate over which chipset or chipsets to use, but the consensus seems to be that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will at least feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which benchmarks show should provide a huge performance boost.
The other models may also use the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but there is a possibility that an Exynos 2500 will be used instead in some regions. This is a chipset that Samsung makes itself, and based on previous form, it probably won't be quite as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Elite – but it should still be a big upgrade from the Galaxy S24's chipset.
A new “Slim” model
Not a feature as such, but the biggest “new” in the Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup could be an all-new model that we’re calling the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim for now.
This could – as the name suggests – be a much thinner alternative to the other Galaxy S25 models, and we've heard that the Galaxy S25 Slim could even feature an “ultra” level camera.
However, to keep it slim there may be compromises elsewhere, such as the number of lenses or the size of the battery.
Additional RAM
According to rumors, it is very likely that both the base Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have more RAM than their predecessors. The former could ship with 12GB (previously 8GB on the Samsung Galaxy S24), and the latter with up to 16GB (previously 12GB on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra).
However, one tip suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra's launch configuration will still have 12GB of RAM, with only higher storage variants getting 16GB, and at least one leak suggests that all Galaxy S25 Ultra models will have 12GB will, so there's a chance we'll win. I don't see any push here.
In any case, an increase in RAM might be desirable, especially for AI tasks that can rely heavily on RAM, and that's especially important since we're hearing that the Galaxy S25 lineup could have lots of new AI features, including one major upgrades For Bixby, this could make it more like ChatGPT.
Remarkably, however, there's no sign of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus being bumped up from its predecessor's 12GB.
A bigger screen
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could potentially have a larger screen than its predecessor. According to reports, it could have a 6.86-inch display, which would likely be marketed as a 6.9-inch. That's a slight increase from 6.8 inches on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
So this probably won't make a drastic difference, but it will bring the phone more in line with the 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max.
However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus are expected to have the same screen sizes as their predecessors, namely 6.2 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively.
