- Circle to Search could add a new mobile gaming feature
- Get Game Help searches the internet for tips and tricks based on an in-game screenshot
- There are no guesses yet as to when the feature might be introduced
Google's AI-powered “Circle to Search” tool could soon bring a new level of usefulness to mobile gamers if it can take cues from a feature found in unreleased code.
Android Authority took a behind-the-scenes look at the unreleased Android code for an APK teardown that uncovered a new chip (read: button) for Circle to Search.
The currently designed feature, titled “Get Game Help,” takes a screenshot of the game in progress and uses this as context to perform a Google search and access tips and hints for the player.
This Google search doesn't seem particularly targeted, as it returns results from different platforms and websites, and therefore may be more of a shortcut than an entirely new way to access help.
Additionally, it can be difficult for Google to identify which game you are currently playing or where in that game you are currently stuck, leading users to refine the search by manually noting the game and level.
Of course, we can't say for sure whether Get Game Help will receive further optimizations to improve accuracy and effectiveness before the feature is available to users, but given its current status, it seems likely.
This feature doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference between games and other apps yet, as the “Get help with the game” button appears every time “Circle to Search” is activated.
Google pushed Circle heavily for search in the second half of 2024 and early 2025 – it wasn't until September 2024 that the feature first rolled out to phones outside the Google and Samsung ecosystems.
Throughout 2024, Google has implemented a number of improvements to one of its most outstanding technologies, such as Shazam-style song recognition, but this is the first we've seen that's entirely focused on mobile gaming.
