Black Friday MacBook Air Deals: FAQs
When do the Black Friday MacBook Air deals start in 2024?
Black Friday 2024 is tomorrow, November 29thfollowed by Cyber Monday on December 2nd. Numerous MacBook Air offers will go live on these two dates (and on the Saturday and Sunday in between).
With Black Friday less than 24 hours away, I'm confident these are the best prices you'll get on the MacBook Air.
Is Black Friday the best time to buy a MacBook Air?
Black Friday has proven to be a great time to buy a MacBook Air over the years. Even though the MacBook Air is Apple's cheapest notebook, that doesn't mean it's cheap. However, on Black Friday, MacBook Airs are among the most popular laptops to see big discounts, especially as retailers try to outdo each other to win over their customers.
However, Apple itself doesn't typically do big deals on Black Friday deals. Instead of cutting prices, Apple often includes gift cards with new purchases. While it may not be as tempting as simple discounts, it can still save you a lot of money – especially if you also want to buy MacBook Air accessories from Apple. The company also offers exchange offers. So if you have an older MacBook Air (or other Apple product) that is in good condition, you may be able to trade it in for an additional discount.
What MacBook Air deals can I expect on Black Friday?
MacBook Airs are one of the most well-known and popular laptop series in the world, which means you can expect great deals on both the 13-inch and 15-inch models on Black Friday. The latest models are equipped with M3 chips and were launched back in March. While there's no sign of an M4-powered MacBook Air yet, the M3 models are currently due for a price cut anyway, and the M2 models could drop even further in price.
If retailers still have the M1 MacBook Air in stock, we could see further price cuts over Black Friday, making it a great choice for students or anyone who wants a MacBook but doesn't want to pay the high price. While the M1 MacBook Air is fine for an everyday laptop, if you want something more future-proof, I'd recommend spending a little more to get an M2 or M3 model, especially as base models come with 16GB of unified storage instead of 8 GB.
Which MacBook Air should I buy?
There has never been a greater selection of MacBook Air models. First of all, you have the latest models, available in both 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes and powered by the M3 chip.
There are also the older M2 models, which again come in 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes and are still excellent laptops despite their age. Apple continues to produce M2 MacBook Airs, positioning them as an affordable entry into the Mac ecosystem thanks to a new low price. These MacBook Air models are where I expect the biggest discounts on Black Friday.
Both the M2 and M3 MacBook Airs have also received a storage boost on their cheapest models, now featuring 16GB of unified storage instead of 8GB.
There is also the M1 model, which only comes in one size and features an older design. Although Apple no longer makes or sells the M1 MacBook Air, many retailers still have stock – and we've seen some exceptional price cuts at past Black Friday events that make this model worth considering for students.
However, since Apple has stopped production, stocks are likely to be running low by now, so don't get your hopes up too high for this model.
While a new M4-powered MacBook Air is all but inevitable at some point, there are no convincing rumors that it will be coming any time soon. The M3 MacBook Airs launched earlier this year, meaning it's still too early to replace them with M4 versions, which are expected to launch in 2025.
